Corona, school and winter
Connie outfit. I love her yellow Docs.
We found a potato shop!
Chatting to my girls while I'm in quarantine.
My quarantine set up. Managed to continue working and watched a lot of tennis. Slept a lot.
Preparing dinner when Steve was completed overloaded. Sent the girls out the back and masked up.
Supervising Connie preparing dinner via FaceTime
It's trite to say it has been a crazy few weeks. It's been a crazy few years, but then when isn't it crazy. That's what life is about, right? We got back from the snow in France, and 4 days later, I tested positive for covid. I don't know if it was from the supermarket in France or the supermarket in Leiden, but either way, since Steve and the girls didn't get it, it had to be those times as I was alone.
I quarantined on the top floor for 8 days in an effort not to give it to the others, and it worked. Steve has now had his booster shot and we will get the girls vaccinated. I'm recovered now (mostly - I still feel a bit foggy and tired but not sure if that's a covid hangover or just a life hangover).
It's funny trying to parent from a differnt level. Steve was there but there were things that I could see he was struggling with - the girls fighting, locating water bottles, preparing dinner. Connie likes to help cook, so I was supervising her chopping potatoes via facetime!! I was so happy to get out of quarantine 2 weeks ago.
Mim has now started complaining of a sore throat but has tested negative on the home test both yesterday and today. Luckily we get a couple of tests for her through school.
Otherwise life is the same, although still very uncertain. Activities can be cancelled at the last minute due to illness, either of the kids, or the teacher. Connie's classes have been finishing at 12noon some days.
By the way, Connie loves choosing her outfits for school and I've included some of her recent outfits above. Wherever life can continue as normal, we are trying to do so. Two years of ups and downs is so wearing. We enjoy getting out as much as we can, despite the dreary weather that is Dutch winters. It's starting to get lighter a bit earlier, and darker a bit later. I actually am not really looking forward to the sun staying up til 11pm, but I'm glad to see a bit more daylight :)
